I would highly recommend MLD treatments with Carol.

I personally had 2 treatments with her and not only did it feel

relaxing and calming during the session, the results seemed

amazing to me! I saw Carol twice post foot surgery.

The first time I went, my foot was extremely swollen;

the very next day after seeing her, the swelling went down

considerably and again after the second treatment.

The evening after each treatment, I felt extremely
relaxed and tired...I had to go to bed earlier than normal because
I was so tired. I slept soundly and deeply (unlike my normal)
and woke up fully rested! I felt great!

Why should I get MLD?
Its a great way to keep your Lymphatic system working optimally and enhance your immune system. Just as we change the oil in our car, its a good way to flush the lymph in our body.

What conditions may it help?
I have worked with clients who have Chronic Lyme Disease, Rheumatoid Arthritis, and Post Operative Edema. They have all reported a decrease in swelling, a restful night sleep and a decrease in pain within 24 hours of their first treatment. Everyone is different, so having a conversation before booking your treatment is recommended.

Who should not receive MLD?
If you have a medical condition that involves any major organ, you may not be a good candidate for MLD because your body may not be able to handle the increased flow of lymph. If you have an active infection, virus or are in cancer treatment it is best to avoid an MLD treatment.

What can I expect at my appointment?
Wear comfortable clothing. You do not need to undress for MLD, unless you would like to combine it with massage. Please drink 16 oz. of water one hour prior to arriving, and again within one hour after your treatment is finished. The treatment is light, rhythmic, pain-free and deeply relaxing.

May I combine Massage and MLD?
Yes! I have created hybrid treatments so you don’t have to choose.

How many sessions will I need?

The best answer is it depends. If you are looking for care before and after surgery, you may want to have at a minimum, one treatment, prior to surgery to prepare your body. After surgery it may take a few sessions to help alleviate any swelling that may occur. It is also best to a have a few treatments on consecutive days or a few in one week.

ABOUT MANUAL LYMPHATIC DRAINAGE

Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD) is a gentle form of bodywork that works to drain and maintain a healthy Lymphatic system. This treatment was originally developed by Emil and Estrid Vodder in Paris in 1936 and was brought to the United States in the 1980s by Dr. Robert Lerner.

MLD uses light pressure to gently stretch the skin, which promotes lymphatic movement. This helps the body balance fluids, reduce edema, and maintain a healthy, functioning immune system.

The Lymphatic system is a group of organs, vessels and tissues that releases Lymphocytes (a type of white blood cell) and flushes out cellular debris and toxins. The system collects excess fluid from your body’s tissues and returns it to your bloodstream after it has been filtered through a series of lymph nodes located throughout your body.

MLD is very gentle and works exclusively on the lymphatic system, unlike a massage, which targets muscle and deeper facial tissue. The treatment is systematic, rhythmic and deeply relaxing, and taps into your nervous system to turn off “fight or flight” mode.

After receiving just one treatment, my clients have reported more restful sleep, decreased pain and reduction in post-surgical edema.
